School Fund Raising - Bringing Much Needed Supplies to the Classroom
Anyone with contact to elementary school aged children has probably participated in school fund raising one time or another by buying a candy bar, wrapping paper or nuts. Most schools in this country have to do school fund raising for computers, books, equipment, uniforms and trips because of the shortage of funds in many school districts. Sometimes individual groups such as the band, football team, or drama club will have their own school fund raising for items that are needed for that particular group. Sometimes, to motivate selling of the school fund raising items, the kids that sell the most in their class or schools receive prizes.
Some methods of school fund raising for older students are car washes and bake sales. Car washes are very popular at the beginning of the school year and at the end. Students usually will set up in a public parking lot with signs to attract attention and request a small donation for a car wash. A bake sale is usually held during school hours and is a way for the students to help the school fund raising by purchasing baked goods for a snack or lunch. Another popular way to get students to donate to the school is by having a popular teacher or student agree to shave their head or do something equally silly or embarrassing if a certain amount of money is raised. School fund raising can be very successful if everyone pitches in and does their part, whether it is selling candy bars or having your car washed--for most schools every little penny helps......
