What must I know when purchasing a Japanes Wok and where is the best one to purchase on?

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 by admin

I live in Utah. Where could I go to purchase a good Japanese Wok? I love Asian cooking. Or where could I purchase one online?

Amazon.com

Don’t get stainless because it cannot be seasoned and you will never get the nonstick surface you need (seasoned nonstick not teflon nonstick)

Don’t get nonstick (like teflon) because you will ruin the surface quickly and also because teflon does not stand up well to very high heat (necessary for wok cooking)

I like the ones with the short handle on one side and the long one on the other. It works well for tossing and allows a two handed carry.

Get a thick heavy one so that the heat is distributed better

Get one with a flat bottom (small flat bottom) so that it can sit on the burner without one of those dreadful heat rings.

The one below is a good wok. I like a wooden handle on one side but the wok is good quality

Something like this is good

What is the best way to purchase two homes and both parties benefit?

Posted on May 25th, 2010 by admin

My husband and I want to purchase two homes from his parents; one we will live in the other we will rent. They are willing to sell both houses to us for well below market value. My mother-in-law thinks we should buy one now and one later, but my husband and I want to purchase them both now. What is the best way to purchse these two homes and both of our families benefit from the transaction. I think they would have to gift some of the value of the homes to us and I was hoping to use that as equity as we don’t have a lot of money for a down payment. Anyway, any advice you can give me I would really appreciate. Thanks.
I guess I need more details, but…
I am asking because my mother-in-law is telling me one way to do it and I think it should be another. She told me that there is no tax when you sell to family, but I am pretty sure that is not true. So I am trying to find the best way to purchase these houses so that I don’t have to have a cash down payment and they pay the least amount of tax.
Just had to say one more thing, after the third answer. I think I am being opposite of greedy. I don’t want them (my in-laws) to have to pay anything extra. I want it to benefit them to sell me the houses.

You’ve come to the right place for personal financial advice.
The best way to purchase both homes so both parties
benefit is buy them below market value one at a time as your
mother-in-law thinks. They are being offered below market
value. Good for you. Your listening to your mother-in-law’s
advice. Good for her and family relations. Besides wouldn’t
it help your husband’s parents to be able to claim the tax
credit on two different occasions too. My advice is to don’t be so greedy.

Where can I purchase active Blueberry Bushes in Evansville Indiana?

Posted on May 21st, 2010 by admin

I live in Southern Indiana (Evansville area) and I am trying to find active (not dormant) blueberry bushes to purchase. Does anyone know where I might purchase some? I purchased one at Rural King but it was the last one and I need at least one more for cross pollination. Your help is appreciated!

Have you tried Gelhausen On Green River? Also maybe even Peckenpaughs (I am a west-saider) Other than that I say try the Rural King on St. Joe if you haven’t already, and if you went to that one then try the Morgan avenue one. Hope this helped!

purchasing airline tickets online – when is the best time to purchase?

Posted on May 18th, 2010 by admin

When is the best time to purchase international airline tickets online? I had heard that the best deals only appear about 2 months before departure date, as that is when airlines will try to get rid of their empty seats – has anyone heard this or am I all wrong. I’m getting concerned – we are planning a trip to France in June and right now, tickets are expensive – but I wonder if they will be cheaper in April.

when booking them don’t go back a few days later and then book them or the price will go up. you see a cheap deal that you like take it. that happens with cheap airlines like easyjet and ryanair
