How come a New earth moon is not on a possible disaster list?

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 by admin

You know Luna (earths moon) controls the tides and helps us have 24 hour days right. Well what if a very Large asteroid say like 4 Vesta gets caught into earths orbit wouldn’t that cause serious Issues on earth.

if something with any size did become moon like to earth yes it wuold effect everything from tides to time to seasons to weather etc. the likliehood of this is slim to non. especially since our life is so short and in space things take a along time to happen.

Why is Earth the only inhabitable planet of the solar system?

Posted on May 30th, 2010 by admin

What event/condition made Planet Earth the only inhabitable one? Is it because of its distance from the sun? Why do all the other planets in the solar system have totally different and uninhabitable atmosphere/ environment than that of Earth?

A bit like Baby Bear’s porridge, it is the only one that is "just right" for life….neither too hot, nor too cold

How many earth years to travel the distance covered by a light year?

Posted on May 28th, 2010 by admin

Yes. I get it. Light year measures Distance.

Let’s say that another planet in some other galaxy is 10 light years away from the Earth. If we were to lauch a spacecraft to that planet, how many Earth years would it take to get there?
I am not sure – but let’s just say the average spacecraft speed.

depends on how fast its going. how fast is that?

just like any other calculation of time, speed and distance.

How should we treat other human beings, animals, all life on earth, and the environment?

Posted on May 25th, 2010 by admin

How should we treat other human beings, animals, all life on earth, and the total environment?

How should we treatment other human beings, animals, all life on earth, as well as the total environment of the earth?

What is responsible treatment of other human beings, animals, all creatures of the earth, all life including plants, and the general environment of the earth?

*How should we treat other human beings?

*How should we treat animals?

*How should we treat all life?

*How should we treat the total environment of the earth?

(Copy and Paste the above listing to help in answering this challenging question.)
<<<<<<…..>>>>>>
Especially with the advent of the machine age this question is more pressing. Is it ok to torture and/or kill other humans or animals? Is it ok to pollute the earth?

Please explain for the benefit of all peoples and nations. This has been an issue throughout the history of mankind. What is responsible human behavior?
MOTHER EARTH: Understanding the earth is just like our mother. Addressing all environmental concerns worldwide.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/motherearth

I asked this question after contemplating man’s irresponsible behavior at time throughout history.

Are we as humans ready to act more responsibly?

We need to treat them all as part and parcel of the Supreme Lord. Animals are no different than humans accept for their body and intelligence differs. The earth is the mother of mankind and the servant of God. We should respect her and not exploit her energies. All vegetation should be offered to God when prepared. What every we do we should take much consideration as to how to treat each living entity. If i accidentally squish a bug i should immediately chant Gods names to the soul of that bug and it will benefit (Such as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, Etc.) We should treat all nations as equals (Friends) and as Gods children. We should never kill unnecessarily. Only to protect oneself or others and by the law. Never exploiting anyone. Then we can be happy. World Peace.

What would happen to Earth if 2000 tons of matter converted to pure energy 800 miles from its surface?

Posted on May 21st, 2010 by admin

What would happen to Earth, in detail, if a sphere of 100 yards in diameter with a mass of 2000 tons were to spontaneous turn to pure energy, as per e=mc^2, 800 miles from Earth’s surface?

Would the resultant super-high-energy blast wipe out all life on the planet? Would the atmosphere be entirely ionized and blown away? Would the oceans be boiled away quickly? Or would Earth simply be vaporized? Or something less drastic or in between those options? Detail is appreciated.

1.63E+23 J

the planet recives 84E+12 watts from the sun constantly

if the energy was released in one second it is 2 billion times more powerful than the sun energy we recieve. At a range of 800 miles at least 1/3 of the energy would reach the surface of the Earth. Yup, fried.

The rocks on Earth are much younger than the earth itself. How does this support the theory of plate tectonics

Posted on May 18th, 2010 by admin

The rocks on Earth are much younger than the earth itself. How does this support the theory of plate tectonics?

The rocks you typically find are younger than the Earth because the surface is being renewed. As plates collide, some rock is thrust under and melted while other rock is lifted up. That rock that has been lifted to the surface either by volcanic action or tectonics is considered "new". The base elements are older, but the actual cooled, formed rock is a new combination. Think of plate tectonics as a huge, incredibly slow, rock recycling system. These new rocks show that plate tectonics brings molten material up from beneath the crust and leaves it at the surface.

Also, by the way, erosion breaks down rock into sand and particles that collect and over time compress to form new sedimentary rock (sedimentary rock is also created by the stuff left behind on the seafloor by microscopic ocean life over log periods of time) which is often much younger than volcanic or igneous rock formed from plate tectonics.
